Our selection of Rhodes grass (Chloris gayana)
   varieties adapted to arid conditions

Forage crops are essential in arid areas: they allow the development of healthy livestock for meat or dairy production. They are often neglected although highly profitable. In most cases, gramineas such as Rhodes grass are sufficient as long as the crop is properly managed. And this begins with the choice of adapted varieties. Based on our experience of growing conditions in arid areas, we have selected the following rhodes grass varieties which have given outstanding results:

  • Katembora,

  • Pioneer

Main plant characteristics
Rhodes grass is a vigorus and fast covering plant with a strong root system which gives the plant a good tolerance to drought: water can be extracted down to about 4 m. Quick coverage is due to the production of stolons which run over the ground.
