Hybrid artichokes: excellent results in Algeria
ICS and its partner Greencoop have recently obtained excellent results with Nunhems' hybrid artichokes in Algeria. Available as seeds, these artichokes varieties are well adapted to a large range of growing conditions (soils, temperatures), as long as specific crop management practices are followed. If you are interested in artichoke production, ICS can provide high quality seeds and an experienced field team of agricultural engineers to guide you along variety choice and management practices to obtain outstanding yields.

Onion varieties: very promising new 2008 releases
High-quality seeds and variety choice are still the keys to success if you are growing onions in arid areas. With over 20 years of experience in onion crop management, ICS has built strong field and market experience and has even more to offer in 2008. The new line of Nunhems' short day red onions in particular is extremely promising: increased yield, high uniformity, and extreme earliness for some of them. The first releases are Bossa Nova F1 and Lambada F1. Stay connected, more information coming up. |

Peanuts and beans harvesters: The best choice for quality results
For peanuts (groundnuts) or beans harvest operations, ICS recommends to use successively two different machines: first an inverting digger followed by a collecting system. The use of the Santal Inverting Digger provided by ICS, preserves product quality and prevents losses. Regarding collecting systems, we will help you choose the most adapted harvester among Colombo's range of equipment: The Double Master II and the "Advanced Peanuts" combine. |

at an impressive speed, training appears to be one of the most important
needs at this time. To respond to this increasing demand, ICS
has recently set up a partnership with CA17 International, a french-based
company specialized in training of professionals in agriculture. CA17 international
has many years of experience in building adapted training sessions for
farmers with similar growing conditions.

Agricultural machinery
Rapid tests the boundaries in Saudi Arabia
Growing crops in the desert is something of a challenge,
for men as well as machines. For many years, ICS has been recommending
to large scale Saudi farms the use of Väderstad
machinery, the Rapid for direct drill and
Carrier for shallow cultivation. Today
this choice has proved to be the right one.

Irrigated silage maize: choose ICS and you will be rewarded
Varieties with an outstanding yield/fiber rate such as
Calcio, Newport
and Nikaïa have given very good
results these past years in Lebanon, Syria and Saudi Arabia. However, with
late crop establishment such as after a wheat
crop, earlier varieties may be necessary in case the growing season is
too short for these varieties, which has led ICS and his partner in Lebanon,
Aidco, to choose slightly earlier varieties. Results will be available
at the end of the season in November. In any case, when choosing
a variety for silage or grain, growers should contact us and indicate
their precise location.
Note that in case weather data are not available, ICS will supply a good
weather station in order to collect them to improve
decision making.
Regarding feeding value, the work conducted by Almarai in Saudi Arabia
shows Newport to have the best feed/fiber
value for their dairy cows. Calcio is
a good second choice.

  Algeria:
the 300C Rapid gives outstanding results in direct drill for wheat and
forage crops
ICS develops with his Algerian partner Greencoop,
direct drill in Algeria. Results obtained with the 300C
Rapid (an S model, fitted with a fertilizer option) are outstanding
for wheat as well as forage crops:
easier sowing of cereals and quicker forage crop establishment while using
less seeds: you can save up to 60% of seeds!

Maize seeds : good results for the varieties recommended by ICS
|
ICS regularly conducts new field trials in arid and
semi-arid conditions in order to find varieties
perfectly adapted to these areas. In 2004 we have focused our trials
on new corn varieties such as Odeon Nikaïa or Newport. We hope
to reach results obtained recently in Saudi Arabia with Panama
(medium-late variety), Giubileo (late
variety) and Calcio (very late silage
maize). |

Onions in Arabia: excellent results
|
For onion production, varieties such as Excel,
Nirvana and Rio
Bravo have once again proved their adaptation to the specific growing
conditions of Saudi Arabia : results are excellent but unfortunately,
seed supply, although improving, continues to be quite short. |

ICS supplies an arabian farm with a batch of 6 spreaders
|
ICS, agent of Bredal
in Saudi Arabia, recently delivered an order of six spreaders
to the Nadec Company. The choice of the K-65 model was obvious considering
the difficult outdoor conditions in these areas. In fact, all equipment
from Bredal are known as robust, easy to use and very precise. ICS provided
assembly and training on the spot. |
